Finally, done with my 3-days-2-nights weekend getaway (last week) at Langkawi, also known as Jewel of Kedah, with my family. Langkawi is a duty-free island, with a population of only about 95,000 and surrounded by many other smaller islands, you can expect lots of tourists there to enjoy sun, sea and beach.
It was a well worth trip and a memorable one. Another item in my "bucket list" checked!
It is a short flight from Singapore to Langkawi, it takes about 1 hour 25 minutes to reach the destination and we rented the cars on the sport at the airport. As we have 14 members (11 adults and 3 children) in our group, we rented 3 cars which fit all of us nicely. If you are planning a trip there, self-drive is the way to go. But one thing to take note is that the roads in the town area (like Cenang and Kuah) are quite narrow and traffics are quite heavy, at least during weekend. So, drive slowly and carefully.
Before this trip, I already done my research and jotted down the "must visit" attractions (which I will share below) and we are blessed that the weather is perfect for our outdoor exploration.
Without further ado, let's take a look at 3 of my "must visit" places in Langkawi:
1. The Eagle Square (Dataran Helang):
Eagle is the trademark or symbol of Langkawi, so, it is a must to pay Eagle Square (at Kuah) a visit if you are coming to Langkawi. We stayed at Cenang area (near the airport) and it took us about 35 minutes ride to Kuah to visit this majestic eagle statue...
It seems that the Eagle has been repainted quite recently as the color looks quite vibrant...

2. Sky Bridge:
Sky Bridge is another newer must visit tourist attraction (it was upgraded and reopened in 2015), unless you have acrophobia. I like heights and this place is amazing.
Before coming up to the Sky Bridge, you need to take the Sky Cab (cable car) from the bottom of the Gunung Machinchang. When you reached the peak, you can either walk about 300 hundreds steps downward (one of the steepest steps I've walked thus far) [cost RM 5] or paying extra [cost RM 15] by taking the SkyGlide [inclined lift] to reach the Sky Bridge. For us, we choose the former and we save about RM100+.

Finally, me at Sky Bridge |
Note, this is extra entrance fee to Sky Bridge, prior to this, you need to pay the following combo-ticket for Sky Cab, Sky Dome, Sky Rex and 3D Art:
Adult: RM 40 (local) or RM 55 (foreigner)
Child: RM 30 (local) or RM 40 (foreigner)
The Sky Dome (can pass if run out of time), Sky Rex (kind of like Jurassic World ride but the image quality is quite poor) and 3D Art (the 3D painting/art museum) are at the bottom of Gurung Machingchang, within the compound of Oriental Village.

3. Island Hopping (Dayang Bunting Marble Geopark, Eagle Feeding Island and Beras Basah Island):
Island hopping came in as an impromptu decision for us as we didn't plan for this prior to the trip. We chartered a boat (RM 350 for 14 members, quite reasonable) and we spent about 4 hours by hopping around the following island:
a. Dayang Bunting Marble Geopark

BONUS: There are quite a number of massage parlors in the town area, so, if you are into foot or body massaging, this is another activity that you can consider. Having said that, the price range is not the cheapest in the region, around RM35 to RM45 for 30 minutes.
Due to the time constraint, we didn't manage to explore more places there but I am pretty sure that we've missed some cool ones. Have you been to Langkawi? What have we missed?
Cheers!
